Question 1 (50%):
Consider the truss in Figure 1. All joints from A to T are smooth pinned. The supports at U and V are pin and roller supports, respectively. Determine the force in member DK using method of sections (can NOT use method of joints). Indicate whether the member force is in
tension (T) or compression (C). (Hint: you can cut more than one section.)

Question 2 (50%):
Consider the structure in Figure 2. Except the two curved members AIH and HGF, all members are two-force members. All joints are smooth pinned. Instrumentation indicates the tension in members CH and DH to be 0.5L each. Determine the forces in members AB, BI and
CI. Indicate whether the member forces are in tension (T) or compression (C).
