PHYS 223 Midterm 2003 Review
Neither the official solutions nor the examination paper were published on the course website. Students were NOT allowed to take away the question papers and their scripts.
However, ALL the questions showed resemblance to the problems in the textbook (3rd edition, Introduction to Electrodynamics, by David J. Griffiths).
Q1---Problem 2.10 (p.69) (Hint: Use Gausss Law) (PHYS121 Level)
Q2---Problem 2.18 (p.75) (Besides, you have to calculate the potential. Take the potential at infinity zero. Hint: Use superposition)
Q3---Problem 3.9 (p.126) (a homework problem)
Q4---Examples 3.6-3.8 (pp.139-141) (an example on the lecture notes)

Personal views:
Q3 were presented by the IA in the tutorial class just before the midterm. Q4 were discussed in class. So, in order to get good marks, you are recommended to attend ALL lectures and tutorials. However, many students got unsatisfactory marks since they had skipped the classes! Many materials are in fact recited dictation stuff, similar to the AL Pure Math.
Mean ~39, SD ~25, but ~9 students out of ~93 got >90
